Puerto Vallarta is known for its bay, but ten minutes inland the Sierra Madre drops into river canyons, waterfalls and jungle trails. That is where our adventures happen.
Canyoning combines hiking, swimming and rappelling down waterfalls. You walk into a canyon with a guide, learn the technique on a short drop and then descend the route with ropes, harness and helmet.
If you prefer to stay dry, jungle hiking routes around Mismaloya and the Río Cuale reach viewpoints, natural pools and small waterfalls without technical rope work.
Most adventures run in the morning, take half a day and leave the afternoon free for the beach or the Malecón. Canyoning costs MXN $1,800 per person and hiking costs MXN $795 per person.
